De Jaguar XK 140: een benchmark van de Britse auto-industrie. Eén van de snelste straatlegale auto's van zijn tijd maar tegelijkertijd een comfortabele toerauto, waardoor hij met name ook succesvol was in de Verenigde Staten. Tegenwoordig zijn we blij met een 'Amerikaanse' XK, omdat auto's hier vandaan origineel links-gestuurd zijn en veelal vrij van roest. Uniek aan het door ons aangeboden exemplaar is dat de historie sinds 1990 aanwezig is: een schat aan uitvoerige documentatie waaronder een uitgebreide fotoreportage van de restauratie, taxatierapport en onderhoudsfacturen. Van 1992 tot 2005 stond de auto in het gunstige klimaat van Dallas (Texas). Zelfs uit deze tijd is vele documentatie aanwezig. Zelfs de kentekenplaat uit Texas is nog bij de auto aanwezig! In 1992 is de auto 'full-body' gerestaureerd. Hierbij kreeg hij zijn opvallend rode kleur en zwart lederen interieur. In 2005 werd de auto naar Engeland geïmporteerd, waar hij alleen bij droog weer werd bereden en droog stond gestald. Gemiddeld is er slechts zo'n 250 mijl per jaar mee gereden. Ook hier werd de auto goed onderhouden en is hij zeer betrouwbaar gebleken. De zwarte softtop verkeert nog in goede staat, evenals het interieur. De originele 6-cilinder lijnmotor klinkt werkelijk fantastisch. De laatste onderhoudsbeurt is uitgevoerd in 2023 (ca. € 3.400,-) waarbij onder meer de koppeling is vervangen. In 2022 is een niewe aluminium benzinetank geïnstalleerd. In 2025 is de auto nog helemaal nagelopen waarbij onder meer de remcilinders aan de voorzijde zijn vervangen (totale factuur € 1.850). Verder is de auto uitgerust met een BMW Getrag 5-versnellingsbak, RVS-uitlaat, telescoop-schokbrekers en aluminium radiateur ten behoeve van betere koeling. Niet alleen een plaatje om te zien, maar dus ook verbeterde rijeigenschappen. In 2024 is de Jaguar door ons geregistreerd op Nederlands kenteken. Tevens zijn kleine reparaties uitgevoerd en is de auto professioneel gepoetst. Kortom: een XK 140 in zeer goede staat met uitvoerige historie, helemaal klaar voor de volgende liefhebber!


Algemene informatie over de Jaguar XK 140
De XK was Jaguar's eerst geproduceerde auto na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Dit model begon met de XK 120 vanaf 1948, waarbij 120 de topsnelheid aangeeft in mijlen per uur. Destijds was het de snelste straatlegale productieauto. In 1954 werd de XK 140 geïntroduceerd, waarbij de focus meer lag op comfort. Het interieur kreeg de beschikking over meer beenruimte en luxe. Daarnaast werd de vering verbeterd en kwamen er moderne schokdempers onder de auto. Het vermogen van de 3442 cc 6-cilinder motor werd opgeschroefd naar maar liefst 193 pk. Optische verschillen zijn een iets grotere grille en dikkere bumpers. Er waren drie carrosserievormen leverbaar: de FHC (Fixed Head Coupé), DHC Cabriolet (Drophead Coupé) en de OTS Roadster (Open Two Seater). Van de OTS zijn slechts 3.354 exemplaren gebouwd. De XK wordt gezien als één van de belangrijkste Britse klassieke sportauto's ooit gebouwd.

The Jaguar XK 140: a benchmark of the British car industry. One of the fastest street-legal cars of its time but at the same time a comfortable touring car, which also made it particularly successful in the United States. Nowadays, we are happy with an ‘American’ XK, because cars from here are originally left-hand-drive and mostly rust-free. What is unique about the one we are offering is that the history since 1990 is present: a wealth of extensive documentation including an extensive photo report of the restoration, valuation report and maintenance invoices. From 1992 to 2005, the car stood in the favourable climate of Dallas (Texas). Even from this time, much documentation is present. Even the Texas licence plate is still with the car! In 1992, the car was ‘full-body’ restored. This gave it its striking red colour and black leather interior. In 2005, the car was imported to England, where it was only driven in dry weather and stored dry. On average, it was driven only about 250 miles a year. Again, the car was well maintained and proved to be very reliable. The black soft top is still in good condition, as is the interior. The original 6-cylinder inline engine sounds really great. The last service was carried out in 2023 (approx. €3,400) during which, among other things, the clutch was replaced. A new aluminium petrol tank was installed in 2022. The car was fully serviced in 2025, which included replacing the front brake cylinders (total invoice €1,850). Furthermore, the car is equipped with a BMW Getrag 5-speed gearbox, stainless steel exhaust, telescopic shock absorbers and aluminium radiator for better cooling. Not only a picture to look at, but thus also improved handling. In 2024, we registered the Jaguar on Dutch registration plates. Minor repairs have also been carried out and the car has been professionally polished. In short: an XK 140 in very good condition with extensive history, completely ready for the next enthusiast!


General information about the Jaguar XK 140
The XK was Jaguar's first produced car after World War II. This model started with the XK 120 from 1948, with 120 indicating the top speed in miles per hour. At the time, it was the fastest street-legal production car. In 1954, the XK 140 was introduced, focusing more on comfort. The interior was given more legroom and luxury. In addition, the suspension was improved and modern shock absorbers came under the car. Power from the 3442cc 6-cylinder engine was boosted to a whopping 193 hp. Optical differences included a slightly larger grille and thicker bumpers.
