De Golf GTI staat bekend als een auto die ontzettend veel rijplezier biedt voor relatief weinig geld. Dankzij een lichtgewicht en de sportieve uitvoering met een 1.8-liter motor met 112 pk sprint de auto in 8,6 seconden naar 100 km/u en is het nemen van bochten een lust. Veel exemplaren zijn in de loop der tijd misbruikt en een mooi, origineel exemplaar wordt dan ook steeds schaarser.

CARROSSERIE/LAKWERK
Het door ons aangeboden exemplaar is een zeer fraai bewaard gebleven Golf. Enkel een subtiele verlaging is naderhand uitgevoerd. Uitgevoerd in de prachtige en opnieuw gespoten felrode kleur 'Tornado rot', die zich nog altijd in een fraaie staat bevindt. De kleur combineert mooi met de kenmerkende rode GTI-details. De zeer goede optische staat duidt op de zorgvuldige voorgaande eigenaren. Roest is niet te vinden op dit exemplaar, naar alle waarschijnlijkheid is de auto altijd las- en schadevrij geweest. Het lakwerk is vrij van noemenswaardige krassen of deuken, met uitzondering van een lichte kras op het schuifdak. Ook de zwarte carrosseriedelen zijn nog gaaf en niet verweerd. De ramen en verlichting zijn fris. De 15" lichtmetalen BBS velgen verkeren in zeer goede staat zonder stoeprandschade.

INTERIEUR
In het interieur waant u zich terug in de jaren "80: alles is functioneel en degelijk. De kenmerkende 'golfbal' versnellingspook is een kenmerkend detail. Dankzij een schuifdak kunt u genieten van de zon. De 4 GTI-matten zijn vrij van beschadigingen, evenals de bekleding voor en achter. De hemelbekleding is in nette staat. Het interieur beschikt over een radio/cd-speler met USB en verkeert in topconditie: we hebben geen aandachtspunten kunnen ontdekken. Ook de kofferruimte is in zeer goede staat.

TECHNISCH
Ook de motorruimte ziet alles er droog, schoon en fris uit. Ook hier is geen roest te zien en rubbers zijn fris en niet verdroogd. Bij de auto is geen onderhoudsdocumentatie aanwezig, maar gezien de algehele staat kan worden aangenomen dat de auto technisch goed onderhouden is. De auto start, rijdt en schakelt naar behoren. De 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 banden zijn nieuw. Kortom: een erg mooi exemplaar van een auto die tijdens het rijden een lach op uw gezicht tovert.

DOCUMENTATIE
Op 11 mei 1988 is de VW voor het eerste geleverd en recent uit België geïmporteerd. Bij de auto zijn Duitstalige instructie- en serviceboekjes aanwezig. Momenteel is de auto op Belgisch kenteken geregistreerd.

ALGEMENE INFORMATIE
De succesvolle Golf GTI was de sportieve uitvoering van de reguliere Golf en werd geïntroduceerd in 1984. Hij is uitgerust met een 1.8-liter 4-cilinder Bosch K-Jetronic injectiemotor met 112 pk. De auto is voorzien van schijfremmen rondom en heeft een gewicht van minder dan 1.000 KG. De subtiele front- en achterspoiler onderscheiden de GTI optisch van de normale Golf. De eerste generatie Golf GTI is inmiddels een icoon en de MkII gaat deze status achterna. Een goed exemplaar wordt steeds schaarser en gewilder, waardoor de prijzen aan het stijgen zijn. The Golf GTI is known as a car that offers an awful lot of driving pleasure for relatively little money. Thanks to a lightweight and sporty design with a 112-hp 1.8-litre engine, the car sprints to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and cornering is a joy. Many examples have been abused over time, so a nice, original one is becoming increasingly scarce.

CARROSSERIE/LAWORK
The example we are offering is a very nicely preserved Golf. Only a subtle lowering was carried out afterwards. Executed in the beautiful and repainted bright red colour “Tornado rot”, which is still in fine condition. The colour combines nicely with the distinctive red GTI details. The very good optical condition indicates careful previous owners. Rust cannot be found on this example, in all likelihood the car has always been weld- and damage-free. The paintwork is free of any significant scratches or dents, with the exception of a light scratch on the sunroof. The black body parts are also still flawless and not weathered. The windows and lights are fresh. The 15-inch BBS alloy wheels are in very good condition with no kerb damage.

INTERIOR
In the interior, you imagine yourself back in the '80s: everything is functional and solid. The characteristic “golf ball” gear lever is a distinctive detail. A sunroof allows you to enjoy the sun. The 4 GTI mats are free of damage, as are the front and rear upholstery. The headlining is in clean condition. The interior has a radio/CD player with USB and is in top condition: we could not discover any points of interest. The boot is also in very good condition.

TECHNICAL
Everything in the engine compartment also looks dry, clean and fresh. No rust to be seen here either and rubbers are fresh and not dried out. There is no maintenance documentation with the car, but given its overall condition, it can be assumed that the car has been well maintained technically. The car starts, drives and shifts properly. The 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres are new. In short: a very nice example of a car that will put a smile on your face while driving.

DOCUMENTATION
On 11 May 1988, the VW was first delivered and recently imported from Belgium. German-language instruction and service booklets are present with the car. Currently, the car is registered on Belgian plates.
