Small pitcher and plate by Gyn Gausserand and Robert Auguste. Both signed GNA. The pitcher is 10.5cm height and 12cm long. The plate is 18cm long. Both in immaculate condition. Very sought after.
The two ceramicists met in 1948 at the Fontcarrade pottery school in Montpellier. They shared the same workshop all their lives, first in Vallauris then in Millau, and finally in Pouzilhac where they settled in a workshop house. In Vallauris, their production is already polymorphous: the resolutely modern and free approach by Gyn and Robert is remarkable and both also work in other workshops. Their creations, signed RGA Vallauris, RGA, R and G Auguste, RA, GG, Gyn, include sculptural pots and panels with painted decorations that take an artistic dimension, beyond the primary sense of use.
