The Tiptop Audio and Buchla 264t combines four sample-and-hold circuits with polyphonic voice allocation through Tiptop's ART technology. Each channel captures and freezes control voltages in two ways: sample-and-hold grabs voltage at pulse edges, while track-and-hold follows the input during a gate signal before freezing when it ends.
What makes this module special is its built-in polyphonic logic. When paired with ART-equipped oscillators like the 259t, the integrated quantizer converts control voltages into musical notes with selectable scales (Minor, Chromatic, Major). There's also a twelve-position knob for selecting the root note. One-button oscillator calibration eliminates tuning headaches.
For experimental patches, use the 264t to capture envelope peaks, generate stepped sequences from smooth voltages, or transform random sources into quantized patterns. Route signals independently or send one CV to all outputs simultaneously using the separate/common switch. Connect a sequencer like the 245t to the voice input, set the voice count, and let the module handle distribution automatically—creating two, three, or four-voice polyphony with minimal effort. This is a great revision of a classic — now with polyphony!
