In his series "Free after Mondrian" Verheugen transforms the abstract compositions of his compatriot by adding figurative elements, animals and voluptuous women in particular, which creates a third dimension in Mondrian's two-dimensional paintings. The paintings are framed by the artist himself in a Mondrian-like style to preserve Mondrian's "neoplastic" aesthetics.The indicated dimensions include the frame.
