Roger van Belleghem, who lived from 1922 up to 2002, was a Belgian painter and sculptor who received his arts education at various academies throughout Belgium.

He is mostly known for his artistic and abstract paintings involving the human body entangled in a surealistic scenario or composition.

This work features a feminine face which appears to be wearing a mask consisting out of organic shapes such as eyes, the wings of insects and more. Along come a set of dark, crimson red colours which are used to set the ambience and a white colour which is used to fill in the face and mask.

The painting along with the frame weighs around 10 kg, has a width of 81 cm, a height of 99 cm and a depth of 2 cm.
