The chase unfolded, a dance macabre,
In the ghostly gallery, where shadows throb.

The cat, like Ensor’s specter, grinned,
A mask of mischief, sharp and thinned,
The mouse, a whisper, a fleeting ghost,
In a world of masks, where reality’s lost.

Round and round, the circle tightens,
In the world of masks, where darkness lightens,
It’s a cat and mouse, an endless game,
In Ensor’s house, where nothing’s the same.
