I have here for sale a book entitled SEVEN YEARS IN SOUTH AFRICA: Travels, Researches, and Hunting Adventures, between the Diamond-Fields and the Zambesi (1872-79) by DR EMIL HOLUB Translated by Ellen E Frewer with about Two Hundred Original Illustrations and a Map. In Two Volumes VOLUME II published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington, London, in 1881. First edition. Here we have a narrative of seven years of travel and hunting in South Africa. In Volume II there are 89 b/w illustrations, 29 of which are full-page.

Brown cloth pictorial boards with gilt lettering on the front board and spine. Minor marks on the boards and rubbing to the corners. Fraying to the top and bottom of the spine. Name of previous owner on prelim. Light foxing to endpapers and some pages. Both hinges are cracked, and the binding is loose with the plate at page 146 and page 289 detached, but all other pages are intact and the book is in good condition. xi, 479 pages. 23 x 15 cm.
