Deze Grand Cru Classé strekt zich uit op het meest prestigieuze terroir van Saint Julien, net tegenover Léoville Las Cases en in het verlengde van Pichon Longueville Baron. Deze unieke locatie komt prachtig tot uiting in deze iconische wijn, 1 van de krachtigste, maar ook enorm complex en uiterst evenwichtig. Een iets hoger percentage Merlot (dan Las Cases en Barton) geeft deze wijn die extra rondheid, maar vergis je niet, het classicisme van de grootste Médocs triomfeert hier, vooral de laatste jaren. Wat een kracht en verfijning! Sara Lecompte-Cuvelier waakt hier over deze energieke legende. Een juweeltje voor elke grote wijnkelder....

Intens paars, aroma's van kersen en zwarte chocolade, bosbessen, bramen en zwarte bessen, en een vleugje vuursteen, mokka, zwoele kruiden en zwarte thee. In de mond een volle body die mooi fruit, complexe kruidigheid en cacao in evenwicht houdt, en tegen het einde altijd een enorme energiestoot geeft met minerale tonen en een onwaarschijnlijk zuivere frisheid. Ongelooflijk hoe deze wijn nu al enorme dimensies en panache heeft. Vergis je niet in de matige topscore, ik verwacht dat deze nog mooi kan stijgen als de gebottelde wijn geproefd wordt.

This Grand Cru Classé extends on the most prestigious terroir of Saint Julien, just opposite Léoville Las Cases and in line with Pichon Longueville Baron. This unique location is beautifully reflected in this iconic wine, 1 of the most powerful, but also enormously complex and extremely balanced. A slightly higher percentage of Merlot (than Las Cases and Barton) gives this wine that extra roundness, but make no mistake, the classicism of the greatest Médocs triumphs here, especially in recent years. Intense purple, aromas of cherry and black chocolate, blueberries, blackberries and black currants, and a hint of flint, mocha, sultry spices and black tea. Full-bodied on the palate that balances beautiful fruit, complex spiciness and cocoa, always giving a huge energy jolt toward the end with mineral notes and an improbably pure freshness. Incredible how this wine already has enormous dimensions and panache. Don't mistake the moderate top score, I expect with this one could still rise nicely once the bottled wine will be tasted.
