🇩🇪 Original WWII German Coca-Cola Crate – “Pfandmarke” Metal Token – For 24 Bottles

An extremely rare and authentic German Coca-Cola wooden crate from the 1930s–1940s, most likely produced and used during the Second World War. This early European Coca-Cola crate was designed to carry 24 bottles and features the iconic red “Drink Coca-Cola – Schutzmarke” branding on both sides.

What makes this piece exceptionally rare is the presence of the original embossed metal “Pfandmarke” (deposit token), still attached with nails to the interior panel. It reads:

“Pfandmarke – Coca-Cola G.m.b.H. – für 24 Flaschen”
(Deposit token – Coca-Cola GmbH – for 24 bottles)

🔎 Details:
• Original red Coca-Cola stenciling (both long sides, faint branding on short sides)
• Embossed metal Pfandmarke token still affixed
• Interior stencil: “Leopoldsh. Gymnastik Erz. Essen” (Essen, Germany)
• Period construction with aged wood, dovetail joints, hand-cut handle slots
• Original forged iron rings/hooks and nails
• Untouched patina – never restored or refinished
🪖 Historical context:
Coca-Cola began bottling in Germany in the 1920s and remained active during WWII under Coca-Cola GmbH. These crates were used in bottling plants and civilian/military distribution, including sales to Wehrmacht-approved retailers. Such crates with original Pfandmarke tokens are exceptionally hard to find.
💥 A true collector’s item for:
• WWII collectors (German or Allied context)
• Coca-Cola memorabilia enthusiasts
• Vintage industrial design
• Historical display setups (museum, reenactment, etc.)
