WWII U.S. Signal Corps Projector PH-222-A (1943) – Complete with Case, Lens, Cables & Original Bulbs

A rare and complete U.S. Signal Corps Projector PH-222-A, manufactured in Philadelphia, 1943. This wartime projector was issued by the U.S. Army Signal Corps and used in the field for instructional films, training, education, and propaganda purposes during World War II.

Features:
• Original Signal Corps data plate:
“Projector PH-222-A, 110 Volts A.C. or D.C., 2 Amps, Maximum Lamp Wattage 200W, Phila-43”
• Original French lens:
• Cinor Projection 1:2.8, f=85mm, SOM Berthiot Paris – wartime optics of excellent quality.
• Original fabric power cable with early plug connector, still intact.
• Correct WWII wooden transport chest with internal compartments.
• Extra projection bulbs included in period boxes:
• Philips Projection Lamp
• Mazda Projection Lamp

Condition:
• Very good overall condition for its age.
• Projector shows normal wear but retains all major components.
• Lens is clear, no major scratches.
• Original cord, chrome fittings, and internal lamp housing all present.
• Comes with original wooden Signal Corps storage case.
• Extra bulbs are a rare addition – most surviving projectors are missing these accessories.

Historical Significance:

During WWII, portable projectors such as the PH-222-A were a vital tool for the Signal Corps. They were used to show training reels on weapon maintenance, vehicle operation, medical procedures, and to boost morale with newsreels and propaganda films. Sets like this would have been carried to training camps and even forward areas to support the troops
