Although Snow Patrol's debut album was released in 1998, and their second CD (2001) received a lot of acclaim in Great Britain, it took a long time before the group came to the attention of the European mainland. The Northern Irish / Scottish Snow Patrol was founded in 1994 by (vocals / guitar) and Mark McClelland (bass) who got to know each other during their college years. Drummer Jonny Quin later completed the band. Just how much Snow Patrol is part of the Scottish (Glasgowse) indie scene was evident from guest appearances from members on the first two CDs, and from Lightfoot's 'supergroup' , with members of just about every Scottish alternative band. But Snow Patrol is also convincing on its own, as Final Straw proves. Supplemented by guitarist Nathan Connolly, the band knows how to find a good balance between solid rock and typical British pop, with highlights such as How To Be Dead, Spitting Games, Run and Chocolate.
