After the First World War, Chanel, together with some contemporaries, such as Paul Poiret, ensured that the strongly corseted figure of the then fashion was exchanged for more casual, sporty women's clothing. Chanel is considered the most important fashion designer ever. She not only made a name for herself with her clothing designs, but also designed jewelry, handbags and perfumes. Her successful perfume Chanel Nº5 became an iconic product. Chanel was the only fashion designer to appear on Time's list of the most influential people of the 20th century.
