This portrait is my tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat, one of the most influential figures of neo-expressionism and pop art. His raw energy, poetic chaos, and powerful cultural messages have always resonated deeply with me. Basquiat wasn’t just a painter—he was a revolutionary force who broke down barriers between the street and the gallery.
I chose to represent him in an intense gaze, surrounded by an electric mix of blue and yellow tones that symbolize both the vibrancy and the urgency of his work. The layered stencil technique echoes the layered messages of his paintings—complex, provocative, and full of emotion.
Through this piece, I wanted to capture the rebellious spirit and creative fire that made Basquiat an eternal icon of contemporary art.

I'm Alexandre Petrus (AP), a French street artist and stencil specialist. From childhood sketches of comic book heroes to monumental murals across France, my journey has been one of passion and evolution. My distinctive double-layer stencil technique, hand-cut with precision, merges instinctive creativity with structured design.
I’ve created murals in cities like Perpignan, Grimaud, Paris and Montpellier, and performed live painting events for Disneyland Paris and other major cultural venues. My "Wedding Painting" concept brings personalized live portraits to life during wedding receptions.
