“The Eagle has landed”
NASA's Kennedy Space Center hosts a moon party at its resort, just a few miles from where the Saturn V rocket took off with Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Aldrin and Michael Collins on July 16, 1969 .

Four days after leaving Earth, MM. Armstrong and Aldrin, in their lunar module, Eagle, touched down on the Sea of Tranquility at 4:17 p.m. with almost no fuel remaining. “Houston, this is the base of Tranquility. The Eagle has landed,” Mr. Armstrong said by radio from 386,000 kilometers from Earth.

“No moment unified the country like when the Eagle landed, with all of planet Earth watching from below,” NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in a birthday message Friday.

“One small step”
“It’s one small step for man, one giant leap for humanity,” proclaimed Neil Armstrong when he became the first person to walk on the Moon.
