Pair of pressed half-crystal cake stands, Hamburg model, from the prestigious Belgian manufacture Val Saint Lambert. This iconic early 20th-century production is officially documented in the glassworks' 1913 catalogue. These pieces feature a circular tray bordered by a raised beaded pattern and a scalloped edge, resting on a flared pedestal with geometric patterns and fluting. The attribution to this classic design is absolute despite being unsigned, which was standard practice at the time for items intended to withstand the fast pace of professional bakeries.The larger stand features a remarkable and highly unusual characteristic, boasting a vertical rim or lip of approximately 1 centimeter around the edge of its tray. This technical and aesthetic variant is rarely seen on the market and proves incredibly practical for containing over-enthusiastic icing runs or securing a tiered cake during transport. This piece measures 8 centimeters in height, with an overall diameter of 25 centimeters, and stands on a 12-centimeter diameter base. It is in very good overall condition, with the exception of a single chip on the rim of its pedestal base.The smaller stand has a standard diameter of 17 centimeters, a height of 5 centimeters, and weighs 450 grams. It shows several chips along the edge of its pedestal base. All of these century-old marks from past family gatherings are fully documented and visible in the attached close-up photographs.The combined total weight of both pieces should be considered for handling. This historical set remains ideal for creating depth on a pastry buffet or displaying finger food with elegance. The photographs are an integral part of the condition description.
