Saburomaru Distillery zet de tarotserie voort, die twee keer per jaar wordt uitgebracht. Wat in 2021 begon met de eerste release, is nu toe aan de 7e editie, ditmaal met de tarotkaart 'De Geliefden', die harmonie en samenleven symboliseert.

Trouw aan zijn symboliek benadrukt de 7e editie de blend van twee whiskycomponenten: een gemaakt met Highland-turf en de andere met Islay-turf uit Schotland. Highland-turf is afkomstig van het Schotse vasteland en kenmerkt zich door tonen van heide, met een meer bloemig en aards profiel. Islay-turf, afkomstig van de kust, daarentegen heeft doorgaans een intensere smaak met een meer medicinale en maritieme kwaliteit, met tonen van oesterschelpen, jodium en zeewier. Dit smaakverschil is te danken aan de verschillende samenstelling van de turf: Islay-turf bestaat uit oceanisch materiaal, terwijl Highland-turf uit grasachtige vegetatie bestaat.

De nieuwe Saburomaru-editie is verkrijgbaar in een klassieke variant (48% alcohol) en een cask strength-versie (59% alcohol).

In 2025 probeerde Saburomaru Distillery een nieuwe fusie in whiskyproductie: turf uit de Schotse Hooglanden, gedistilleerd in 2020, en turf uit de zee van Islay, gedistilleerd in 2021.

Verschillende persoonlijkheden komen samen om een ​​nieuwe harmonie te creëren. Ze resoneren met elkaar, verbinden zich met elkaar en weven een uniek verhaal.

Saburomaru Unveils 7th Tarot Release Featuring The Lovers Combining Highland & Islay Peat

Saburomaru Distillery has been pressing on with its Tarot series, which it has released on a twice a year basis, and thus what started in 2021 with its inaugural launch, is now in its 7th edition, this time featuring the tarot card 'The Lovers', which symbolises harmony and co-existence.

True to its symbolism, the 7th release emphasises the blending of two whisky components, one made with Highland Peat and the other made with Islay Peat from Scotland. Highland peat comes from the Scottish mainland and typically features notes of heather, with a more floral and earthier profile, whilst Islay peat, coming from the coast, typically comes through more intensely, with a more medicinal and maritime quality, showcasing notes of oyster shells, iodine and seaweed. This flavour difference is due to the difference in composition of what constitutes the peat, with Islay peat made of oceanic material, whilst Highland peat is made of the grassy vegetation.

The new Saburomaru release comes in both a classic proof (48% ABV) and a cask strength version (59% ABV).

In 2025, Saburomaru Distillery attempted a new fusion in whisky making: Highland peat from land, distilled in 2020, and Islay peat from the sea, distilled in 2021.
