Merlot

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Saint-Emilion vineyard is one of the most precious jewels of the Bordeaux wine landscape, and the star of the right bank of the Garonne. Recognized since 1936, this controlled designation of origin extends around the medieval town of the same name. It was also here that the first wine syndicate in France was created in 1884, ensuring since then to preserve the rights of the region's winegrowers. The soils of the appellation are mainly clay-limestone, there are also more sandy and gravelly areas at the bottom of the hillside, near the alluvial zone. Here, Merlot dominates the grape varieties (nearly 60% of the vines planted). It brings its delicious fruity notes (cherry, red plum), a supple and ample body and an average alcohol content. There are also plots of Cabernet Franc (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), which bring structure, good aging potential and spicy nuances to the blend.
