Françoise & Denis Clair – Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2023A beautiful expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir from the highly respected Domaine Françoise & Denis Clair, one of the benchmark family estates of the southern Côte de Beaune.Founded in 1986, the domaine began with just 5 hectares of vineyards in Santenay. Over the years, Françoise and Denis Clair carefully expanded their holdings with exceptional parcels in Santenay and Saint-Aubin. Today, the estate covers approximately 14 hectares, planted with both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their son, Jean-Baptiste Clair, now oversees the viticulture and winemaking, continuing the family's dedication to precise, terroir-driven Burgundy.The Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2023 is made from Pinot Noir sourced from two distinct areas: vineyards above Saint-Aubin and parcels close to the little-known Maranges area, south of Santenay. The combination of these cooler, elevated sites brings freshness and elegance, while the old-vine component contributes concentration and depth. The Pinot Noir vines produce small berries with naturally thick skins, resulting in a wine with excellent colour, aromatic intensity and structure.The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable, reasoned methods, with great attention paid to the health of the soil and the expression of each individual site. Harvesting is carried out by hand, followed by traditional winemaking in the family's cellars.The 2023 vintage offers an attractive and expressive Pinot Noir profile, with aromas of fresh red berries, cherries and subtle floral notes.
