The property
3rd Classified Growth located in the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Lagrange stands out for its early viticultural history due to the activity of the Templars on the estate. Château Lagrange continues its quest for excellence, led by the duo formed by Matthieu Bordes and Keiichi Shiina. Les Fiefs de Lagrange is the Second Wine of Château Lagrange.
La vigne
Ideally located in the municipality of Saint-Julien, the vineyard of Château Lagrange is situated on two gravel rises covering a total of 118 hectares of vines. The vines used in the production of Fiefs de Lagrange are on average 28 years old.
Vinification
Manual harvesting from September 23 to October 14. First selection by hand. Second optical selection. Parcel and intra-parcel selection. Thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. Thermoregulated vinification between 26 and 28°C. Maceration from 15 to 22 days. Daily pumping over or délestage or punching down. Malolactic fermentation.
Breeding
Early blending in January. 13 months of aging. 20% new barrels. Fining with egg whites. Final blending before bottling.
Assemblage
Cabernet sauvignon (80 %), merlot (18 %), petit verdot (2 %).
Tasting
Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2019 est un vin rouge de Saint-Julien harmonieux. Le bouquet exprime un mélange subtil de fruits rouges et noirs soutenu par des notes épicées. Gourmand et onctueux en bouche, Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2019 dévoile une fraîcheur agréable et un bon équilibre.
