The Wampler Faux Tape Echo Delay is a hand-built, hybrid delay pedal made in the USA. It combines an entirely analog dry-signal path with a digital delay engine to deliver warm, tape-like repeats without degrading your core tone. The controls include Level (delay mix), Repeats (feedback amount), Shade (tone color from warm/dark to bright/clear), and Echo (delay time). There is also a Faux Tape Reel toggle switch to engage or bypass the modulation effect, plus the additional Movement (modulation rate) and Sway (modulation depth) knobs. When the modulation is engaged, you can precisely shape how the echoes wobble and flutter. With delay times reaching approximately 800 ms and relay true-bypass switching, the pedal offers both studio-grade tone and stage reliability.
Its Shade control allows for fine-tuning the tonal character of the repeats—from darker, round tones when turned counterclockwise to cleaner, more pristine echoes when turned clockwise. The Faux Tape Reel section reacts dynamically to your playing, with Movement controlling how fast the modulation responds and Sway determining how deep the wobble goes.
