Hohner introduceert de PentaHarp, een baanbrekende toevoeging aan het iconische assortiment mondharmonica's. Dit unieke instrument is nu verkrijgbaar en is speciaal ontworpen voor gitaristen. Het bevat de noten van de pentatonische toonladder. Aan de buitenkant lijkt er niets nieuws te zijn, maar de notenindeling van deze mondharmonica geeft de speler eenvoudig toegang tot de blues, zonder dat hij of zij eerst jarenlange ervaring met geavanceerde technieken hoeft op te doen.
"Beginnende spelers raken vaak ontmoedigd als ze de mondharmonica niet meteen onder de knie krijgen", aldus Drew Lewis, Hohner Harmonica Brand Manager voor KHS America. "De traditionele mondharmonica is ontworpen voor de Duitse volksmuziek van halverwege de 19e eeuw. In de loop der jaren hebben mondharmonicaspelers verschillende modi ontdekt en technieken ontwikkeld om het instrument aan te passen aan de muziek van die tijd. De PentaHarp is ontworpen met gitaristen in gedachten en biedt een vertrouwde toonladder in de meest gitaarvriendelijke toonsoorten."
De mineur pentatonische toonladder is een van de meest gebruikte toonladders in de populaire muziek. Speel een van deze noten in de juiste toonsoort en je kunt niet fout gaan. Door de "Blue Note" toe te voegen, kan de speler extra expressie en veelzijdigheid toevoegen; dit staat bekend als de "Blues Scale". Gitaristen noemen deze toonladder "Playing in the Box" en het is een van de eerste toonladders die je leert bij het spelen van een solo.
