The Dell 4G4F6 is a 16-bay 2.5-inch SAS/SATA drive backplane designed for the Dell PowerEdge R730 rack server. It serves as the internal storage interface between the hot-swap drive bays and the server’s RAID controller, enabling high-speed data transfer and hot-plug drive functionality. This backplane allows up to 16 x 2.5" drives to be installed and managed within the server chassis. It supports enterprise SAS and SATA drives and is engineered for continuous 24/7 operation in data center environments. Installed inside the front drive cage of the server, the backplane connects to the RAID controller via internal Mini-SAS cables and distributes both power and data signals to all drive bays.
