The old stone house which was built in 1932 and has its own well is located in the same street as the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel from the 18th century and near numerous cultural monuments that make Selca the village with the highest number of monuments per capita in the world. Among them are Lav Nikolayevich Tolstoy, Franjo Tuđman, Hans Dietrich Genscher, Alois Mock, Pope John Paul II, and a handful of others scattered throughout the village. Of the 30 memorial plaques, the one that stands out is on the house where Martin Kukučin (Martin Bencur), a doctor and the founder of modern Slovak prose, lived and worked. He wrote, among other things, about the life of islanders in their homeland and in emigration. The Church of Christ the King, also known as the Brač Cathedral due to its size, is located in the center of the village. Selca is situated on the plateau of Mount Pliš, in the eastern part of the island of Brač, and was first mentioned in the 1184 in the Povaljska Charter. One of the attractions near Selca is the stunning Skywalk Biokovo, located just 25 km away on the main land and the local airport Brač is 17km away.
