Smooth stainless steel bezel mounted on the 31mm (1,18 inch) stainless steel case, excluding the crown and 37mm (1,45 inch) from lug to lug is in good vintage condition, without surface scratches. It was the first waterproof, self-winding wristwatch to use the patented rotor system that has been the blueprint of almost every subsequent watch in the Rolex catalogue. That’s why you’ll notice the words OYSTER PERPETUAL emblazoned on the dial of most of today’s watches. Now that’s what we’d call a legacy!

If the Oyster Perpetual looks familiar, that’s because it should. The combination of the waterproof Oyster case design and a self winding movement led to a watch case so perfect and versatile that Rolex decided to use it as the basis of the majority of their future models.
