The SWCSM is a soil moisture sensor. It is mainly used in agricultural applications to detect soil that is too dry or too moist. These sensors help to measure, control and maintain soil moisture. The sensor operates on 24 VDC via the Sentera Power over Modbus (PoM) system. All measurements are available via Modbus RTU. The electronics are encapsulated in a rubber seal. The built-in cable has a length of 7.5 m. We recommend using the ADPT-SWCSM adapter to connect this sensor to a Sentera PoM network.

Soil moisture contentThis soil moisture sensor measures the volumetric water content of the soil by means of high-frequency capacitance technology . When installed and used correctly, this sensor provides insight into the soil water content and the water status of the plant . It prevents excessive water consumption or moisture problems in the crops. Efficient irrigation saves water and reduces possible leaching of agricultural chemicals.Combine multiple sensorsThe sensor should be placed in the effective root zone and in locations that can accurately monitor moisture. It is important to maximize the contact between the green part of the sensor and the soil. Do not completely cover the sensor with soil. Placing multiple sensors provides unique insight into the infiltration of rainwater into the soil. They are also frequently used to investigate irrigation efficiency . Water is precious. By measuring the water content of the soil, it is possible to better control irrigation and save water.How to connect?This soil moisture sensor has an integrated cable of 7.5 m length. A separately available adapter box type ADPT-SWCSM is required to connect this sensor to a Sentera PoM network. This sensor requires a 24 VDC power supply. The measurements can be read out via Modbus RTU communication.
