The RDCV series is a residential HVAC controller that gives you the possibility to operate EC fans, lighting, valve actuators or other applications via push buttons. The controller has 2 operating modes. In AUTOMATIC mode it can work with most Sentera sensors. In this way you can obtain a demand-driven control in function of the measured values. You set the desired setpoint on the RDCV and can read the measured values and/or settings via the display. In manual mode, the RDCV works as a full-fledged potentiometer. The settings are easy to adjust, either by means of the 3-button interface 7-segment display LED display or by means of the 3SModbus software application. They are suitable for a wide supply voltage range 110—230 VAC / 50—60 Hz and provide a variable output signal between a selectable minimum and maximum level.

A digital potentiometer?In the HVAC world, potentiometers are used, among other things, to provide control signals for EC motors.So they are actually also speed controllers for EC motors. In itself, a potentiometer, or adjustable resistor, is always analog.However, thanks to the built-in processor, the RDCV is an EC speed controller packed with additional features:

Adjustable minimum and maximum values
Output continuously variable or in 2 to 10 steps
Control signal selectable from 0-10 VDC, 0-20 mA, 0-100% PWM
Adjustable start value both linear (e.g. 5 VDC) and step (e.g. step 3)
The readout on the LED screen can be switched between the output value and the selected step
Modbus RTU (RS485) communication for integration with a building management system (BMS)
A user-friendly menu with 3-digit, 7-segment LED display and a 3-key interface
An even more extensive menu is available via the free 3SModbus software
Suitable for flush or surface mounting

Or a PI controller for demand control!The function of "potentiometer" or "EC speed controller" is therefore only 1 of the 2 operating modes of the RDCV. In combination with a selection of the Sentera sensors, it can also be used as a PI controller. In concrete terms, this means that you can enter a setpoint for the measured value of the connected sensor. The output of the RDCV will then intelligently control the EC fan to achieve the setpoint as efficiently as possible.Features of automatic mode (in combination with a sensor):

Adjustable set point for temperature, relative humidity, CO2, air quality, differential pressure
Setpoint for PI control or direct control with a fixed hysteresis.
The display readout can switch between measured value and output value
The user can manually override the output for a fixed time at any time
