Muonionalusta is a meteorite classified as an octahedrite, the IVA (Of) type, which fell in northern Scandinavia, west of the Sweden–Finland border, about one million years before the present.
The first fragment of Muonionalusta was found in 1906 near the village of Kitkiöjärvi. [1] About forty pieces are known today, some of them quite large. Other fragments have been found in a 25 by 15 km area (15.5 mi × 9.3 mi) in the Pajala district of Norrbotten County, about 140 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle.
