- The pictures shown here, in roughly chronological order, date from between 1958 and 1966 and, perforce, embody a personal rather than an all-embracing view of Scotland's railways. I am able to include scenes on the lines of all five Scottish pre-Grouping companies, although by this time locomotives of only two of them. It may seem like cheating to feature of the four restored locomotives but they were such a familiar part of the Scottish rail scene it would be absurd to exclude them; all the more so since their activities have long passed into history.
