Engelstalig boek "Do-It-Yourself Shiatsu - How to perform the ancient Japanese art of acupuncture without needles" van Wataru Ohashi.
“Shiatsu, the ancient Japanese art of acupressure, combines some of the best features of acupuncture, massage, yoga-like exercises and oriental medicine. The fact that no needles are involved means that you can practice Shiatsu both on other people and yourself.
Literally Shiatsu means ‘finger pressure’. It uses the same ‘tsubo’ or pressure points as acupuncture and relies on the same channels of energy throughout the body. Like acupuncture, when skilfully performed, Shiatsu can relieve pain and tension - complaints as varied as arthritis, headaches, haemorrhoids, menstrual cramps, impotence and frigidity have all been treated successfully with it - and it teaches you to avoid ailments such as indigestion, nervous tension and heart disease by cultivating a balanced diet and way of life. What is more, Shiatsu is enjoyable as well as effective.
The author, Wataru Ohashi, studied under Tokujiro Namikoshi, founder of the famous Nippon Shiatsu School in Tokyo, and is one of the most experienced practitioners of Shiatsu living in the West.
Included in the book are some 150 photos and diagrams demonstrating exercises, massage and techniques for treating every part of the body. There are also charts showing you were the tsubo and Yin and Yang meridian lines are situated and an excellent introduction explaining the origins of Shiatsu and the difference between Eastern and Western attitudes towards medicine and the body.”
