Ms. Marvel, A.K.A. former soldier Carol Danvers, began as a typical carbon copy of Captain Marvel, with watered down versions of his powers and costume. She was eventually popular enough to warrant her own series, which lasted several years.

This second ongoing series, launched in 2006, is another chance at comic book greatness. In the time between her original title and this one, Ms. Marvel has led a tumultuous life. She was an Avenger, had her powers and memory stolen by Rogue, been given a variety of different talents and code names, and fought and eventually won a battle with alcoholism. Ultimately regaining her original abilities, Ms. Marvel is now an Avenger at the peak of her powers and popularity, once again bringing the fight to the bad guys.
