Dryhurst - "Raphael" - Edition in the series: Little Books on Art (General Editor of the series: Cyril Davenport) - London, Methuen & Co., 1905 - 1st edition - XI+223p. - Hardcover: linen (look alike leather) binding with decorative gold printing on the front cover and spine, with gilded top edge, hand-cut (partly still uncut) - 11.80x15.40cm - Good copy: linen damage to the spine (photo), wear and tear signs of use on the cover (gold print weathered lower left), foxing spots throughout the text block (illustrations on white quality paper!), endpapers discoloured, ex-library copy 3 stamps on endpaper and title page: "Collegiums Joannis Berchmans - Bruxelles, Bibliotheca Professorum".
  • Alfred Robert Dryhurst (1859-1949) was Assistant Secretary (1908-1924) at the British Museum.
  • Cyril Davenport (1848 - 1941) was Superintendent of Bookbinding at the British Museum.
  • Raphael (1483-1520) was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. In addition to frescoes, altarpieces and portraits, he has made designs for churches, palazzos and tapestries. His most famous work is The School of Athena in the Vatican. Raphael is the name by which he is now known worldwide.
