Surrounded islands was a temporary work of art consisting of wrapping several small islands in Florida's Biscayne Bay in a 200 foot wide band of bright pink coloured, woven polyamide fabric. The project remained on view for a 2 week period in May 1983 and was conceived by the Bulgarian-born, American artist, Chico, renowned for audacious large-scale works. Includes a sample of the original pink fabric used by Christo as well as maps and line drawings.
