Gents 1950s Verdal Type Tour de France wrist watch.

The brand name Verdal was registered by Leon Maitre & Fils in 1939. Maitre had already registered the Pronto name in 1910 and the Pronto fleur-de-lys logo appears on this dial so it appears to be a combination of the two brand names (confirmed by the advert shown in the photos).

The watch has a good quality 17-jewel ETA hand-winding movement, signed Verdal, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner dust cover / retaining ring (the retaining screws are not required in the movement and that is why the holes are empty).

The watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition with just light surface marking, nothing too serious at all. The screw-on case back is signed Verdal Type Tour de France and it has an outline of France. It also states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from...
