Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 Original AMG 6x6

The G63 AMG 6x6 was the world's most expensive mass-produced off-road vehicle in 2013. Almost 2.4 metres high and nearly six metres long, it made a standard G-Class look like it had been washed too hot. At the time, the car cost over €450,000 in Germany. Mercedes practically had the car on the shelf as it is a combination of a military chassis (taken from an order from the Australian army, which ordered 2,000 military Gs in the 6x6 version) with the bodywork from the civilian 463 series mated to the 5.5-litre biturbo V8 from house tuner AMG. The bodywork was of course specially manufactured and the chassis raised, which involved many technical challenges and was built with German engineering skill. Very expensive but extraordinarily effective in combination with the huge wheels. For instance, ground clearance under the differential is a whopping 46cm instead of 21cm in the ‘normal’ G class and there are much larger approach and departure angles. Furthermore, it is equipped with four 20-litre air tanks linked to a compressor to lower tyre pressure in the loose sand or raise it again on the paved road at the push of a button. If you look closely, you will see that the huge tyres are mounted on so-called Beadlock rims, which allow driving even with low tyre pressure at extreme angles of inclination without the tyre running off the rim. Several variants of the 6x6 were built by various tuners, even with a V12, but only between 120 and 140 of the original G63 AMG 6x6 were built. The car in our auction was delivered to a famous Argentine footballer (!). Built in Graz on 29 January 2016 and serviced at the Mercedes Benz dealer and specialist. Although the car has had its last 2 servicing in the Netherlands, the 6x6 has German papers. Like basically all G63 AMG 6x6, it is equipped with all the options you can think of. For instance, the AMG is equipped with Designo leather, lots of Carbon, Harman Kardon surround sound system and painted in Solarbeam Yellow which looks great on it.
