Beschrijving

This is a traditional Indian bronze sculpture depicting Nandi, the sacred bull and loyal vehicle of Lord Shiva, positioned in a devotional pose before a Shiva Lingam (symbol of divine generative power), protected by a five-headed cobra (Nga). This piece is rich in symbolic and spiritual iconography characteristic of Hindu religious art.

Nandi is shown reclining in a calm and reverent posture, adorned with a necklace and ceremonial bells, gazing toward the lingam — a classic configuration seen in temples and personal altars. The five-headed cobra is elegantly wrapped around the lingam, embodying protection, fertility, and transformation.

The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique (cire perdue), showing a warm patina and surface wear consistent with age and devotional handling.

Dimensions:
• Length: approx. 10 cm
• Width: approx. 4.5 cm
• Height: approx. 7.5 cm

Good condition overall. Surface wear, minor oxidation, and a mounting hole on the base, consistent with age and devotional use. Please refer to the detailed photographs.
