He was living and working in France from 1883 onward.
Exhibitioned in the Paris Salons ' l’Exposition Universelle de 1900 .
He earned several awards, e.g. a silver medal at the Universal Exposition of 1900. Van der Straeten demonstrated technical mastery in his work.
