The Brownie box cameras were made for the general public, they were cheap to buy and easy to use. The name "Brownie" refers to gnomes, and Kodak wanted to use this to make the camera popular with young people. The "Brownie Six-20 E" was part of the large Kodak Box camera family. The "Brownie Six-20 Model E" was a higher-quality camera from a remarkable series that was produced in the UK for twenty years, starting in 1937. The style of the camera, with its rounded corners and vertical lines on the front plate, was typical of the Art Deco period. My camera belongs to the first production series from 1947 to 1953. These cameras had a vertically striped front, a metal transport knob, and a metal shutter release button. From 1953 to 1957, the camera was given a horizontally striped front, a black plastic transport knob, and a black plastic shutter release button.
