Indeed, those that did not end up in the trash or in the fireplace were most often destroyed over the last 170 years by collectors who wanted to retrieve the stamps!

Personally, I find that complete letters are infinitely more interesting than just stamps because a letter often tells a story, a journey, or a trip!
