Martin 00-45 – Custom order Left-Handed – 1981
Exceptional 1981 Martin 00-45, a factory-original left-handed custom order (not a conversion). A truly one-of-a-kind instrument, featuring unusual Style-45 inlay combinations specific to this special order.
00 body size with AAA spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, and natural nitrocellulose finish. The guitar is structurally sound, extremely light (1.72 kg / 3.8 lbs), and highly resonant.
Cosmetic wear is present and consistent with age, with no structural impact. The headstock was broken in the past and professionally repaired; this is the only non-original area visible under blacklight. No neck reset has been performed; the action remains playable but a neck reset would improve long-term comfort.
Tone is impressive, open, and brilliant, with remarkable volume and depth for a small-bodied guitar. Vibrations are immediately felt while playing.
Original ebony bridge, Micarta nut, original tuners, original lacquered pickguard, and a wide neck (48.3 mm / 1 7/8”). The guitar has been professionally refretted (approximately 90% fret life remaining).
Includes the original hard case.
Documented provenance: a photo of the original owner with the guitar circa 1980 supports its early ownership history.
Pricing note: the asking price is considered very reasonable, as a comparable Martin 00-45 of this era, in similar condition without a repaired headstock, would easily command around €14,000 on today’s market.
