Leak Sandwich 150 MKI

For sale is a pair of vintage first series “Leak Sandwich 150 MKI” 15 ohm speakers, built in 1962, in very nice condition. They have the very desirable large alnico magnets as opposed to the ferrite motors of the later versions. Perfect speakers for valve amplification. 10 watts is all you need. They sound very dynamic, with very good detail, clarity and tight bass. Not unlike the “quad esl 57” in their overall presentation.


All crossovers parts are checked and verified to be in spec. The high quality TCC electrolytic capacitors all measure bang on within their +-20% ratings. It is not recommended to recap the crossovers with film caps. It will alter their voicing and render them in consequence as too bright sounding.


They are “lively” speakers and much fun to listen to. Their striking mid century modern appearance in walnut veneer and the brass brand badges only add to the experience.
