Beschrijving

A 19th century bronze Victorian inkwell made in France.

This almost all bronze object features an eagle sitting atop an etched, hollow globe which comes in 2 pieces, an upper and lower half.

The lower half comes with a spherical extension and has four Victorian style legs, each sculpted out of a highly detailed leaf along with a paw on its base. The lower half also has an opening in its center holding a likely crystal cut ink reservoir in place.

IMPORTANT.
1: Note that the eagle is bolted or screwed onto the top half. Due to the screw stripping (doordraaien) in place, the eagle sits a bit lose on top of the upper half.

2: Note that one of the screws keeping the leg secured onto the earlier cited spherical extension is missing.

3: Note that the uperhalf of the globe no longer correctly fits the bottom half. (see images for clearification)

The item along with its integrity is in an alright antique condition with some ink smudging, corrosion, and scratching. The crystal reservoir has no cracking nor chipping.

The complete item weighs a total of 3,2 kg, has a width (based on the wingspan of the eagle) of 20,5 cm, a height of 24,5 cm and a depth of 17,5 cm.
