Fr Wilfried Joye, Oblate missionary, has spent many years in the Potchefstroom area serving as a Priest in the local parishes and as an Artist depicting the life he encounters among people in his ministry.

Here below is an extract from his website giving some context to his art: Link to his web site
"His style is strongly influenced by Flemish expressionism: (Servaes, Permeke, De Smet, Brusselmans) and his longstanding friend, father Claerhout. His first works were done in oil pastels on paper but since the 1980’s, he has worked chiefly in oils, occasionally he produces lively charcoal drawings. His first solo exhibition was held in 1968 at the church hall in Klerksdorp. He also exhibited with his longstanding friend father Claerhout.

"His work reveals the maturity of an excellent artist, his familiarity with his theme and the way he uses impasto, complementing textures and a great feeling of expressive use of lines and planes are ideally suited to the purpose of bringing across the great and simple message,-his love for humanity.” - John Botha P.U for C.H.E

Wilfried Joye also took part in several group exhibitions.

Art Exhibitions
Over the last few years he exhibited in Belgium with religious themes being the main object of his work. Most of his works have been purchased by institutions and are permanently exhibited."
