Beschrijving

A sculptural set of four vintage armchairs, produced by Segis in Italy during the 1980s.

Each chair combines a black lacquered curved plywood shell with a black leather seat and a slender chromed tubular-steel frame. Rather than hiding the construction, Segis makes it part of the design: the chrome tubes rise along the front edges of the shell, while a keyhole-shaped cut-out interrupts the otherwise continuous black surface.

The enveloping wooden form and leather seat clearly recall Philippe Starck’s iconic Costes Chair, designed for Driade in 1984. This Segis model develops that same postmodern language through a lighter four-legged structure and its own sharply defined details.

All four chairs retain their original Segis labels. The wood, leather, and chrome show light, age-appropriate wear. Overall, the set remains in good vintage condition, with its original character intact.
