PERSONAL DATA
The MIC shows both service numbers as belonging to H.C.Worsell, the second being the post 1917 re-numbering of the Territorial Force.
There were 4 battalions in the 4th Queen’s Royal West Surrey (Territorial) Regiment, but only the 1/4th served in India & Afghanistan. The 4th Queens recruited from the Croydon area of Surrey.
The 1911 Census shows that Henry Cecil Worsell was born in 1883 and was a builder & undertaker, living in Oxted, Surrey.
He was Commandant of the Red Cross Surrey/61 Section, and he joined the RX in 1933 and left in 1948, thus just completing 15 years necessary for the medal.
Worsell died in 1976, aged 94.
