Born in 1893, in Tottenham, London
A carpenter at the moment of enlistment
MIC shows entrance to theatre on 16/8/1914 and he served with the 1st Division Ammunition Column (*) (with service in 1st Ypres – 19 okt tot 22 nov 1914). (Original !) Mons clasp confirmed on the MIC.
He became a Chief Paperkeeper () at the Board of Trade.

(*) “1st Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery served with 1st Division. 1st Division was one of the first British formations to proceed to France in August 1914, and fought on the Western Front throughout the war, taking part in most of the major actions. In 1914 they were involved in The Battle of Mons and the subsequent retreat, The Battle of the Marne, The Battle of the Aisne, The First Battle of Ypres and the Winter Operations of 1914-1915. In 1915 they were in action during The Battle of Aubers and The Battle of Loos. In 1916 they were in action in the Battles of the Somme. In 1917 they saw action in The German retreat to the Hindenburg Line and the Third Battle of Ypres. In 1918 the Battles of the Ls, the Second Battles of Arras, The Battles of the Hindenburg Line, The Battle of the Selle and The Battle of the Sambre, in which the Division fought the Passage of the Sambre-Oise Canal. At the Armistice, 1st Division was selected to advance into Germany and formed part of the Occupation Force at Bonn.”

“the Divisional Ammunition Column was responsible for transporting all the ammunition, both artillery and small arms, for the Division. a DAC HQ was small - the 1915 standard comprised: Lt Col, Adjutant, Sergeant-Major, Artillery Clerk, Battery Quartermaster Sergeant,
Clerk, Gunner, 2 Medical Orderlies, 6 Drivers for vehicles, 1 Driver for spare horses, 1 spare Driver, 6 Batmen. A total of 23 personnel.
