Designed by Terasaki Kgy, it was published in the literary magazine Literary Club, issued from 1895 by Hakubunkan.Terasaki Kgy was a leading master of Japanese painting active from the Meiji to Taish periods. He was awarded the title of Imperial Household Artist, the highest artistic honour of the era. He was a founding member of the Japan Art Institute and a key pioneer of modern Meiji Japanese painting.The print depicts an autumn garden scene: a lady in a pale green traditional kimono sits quietly on a bamboo chair, holding a book. Behind her stands a maple tree with red autumn leaves drifting down, accented by slender flowering twigs and autumn grasses, creating a serene and peaceful autumn atmosphere.It features delicate soft linework and subtle, gentle colouring. The finely rendered face conveys the gentle charm typical of Meiji beauty paintings. The woodblock-printed cursive signature "" and the oval red seal of Terasaki Kgy appear in the lower right margin.Handwritten pencil notes on the mat list the work’s title () and print dimensions. A paper label on the back of the frame bears writing for the artist Terasaki Kgy ().The print is housed in its original carved gilt wooden frame with glass. The frame bears age-related wear. The Washi paper shows natural toning, minor foxing and light creases.
