Terracotta beeldhouwwerk van Gaston Hauchecorne (1880-1945) getiteld Chinese man, uit Frankrijk, met handtekening en stamper Susse fres edit Paris; afmetingen 15 x 17 x 15,5 cm; oor heeft een kleine chip maar verder in goede staat.
Gaston Hauchecorne (1880-1945), a terracotta sculpture of a Chinese man wit serene facial expression, signed ‘G. Hauchecorne’ and stamped ‘Susse fres edit Paris’.Dimensions:Height 15 cm, width 17 cm, depth 15.5 cm.Condition:Asmall chip or frit to one of the ears (see photo 5), furthermore in a very good condition.About the artist:Hauchecome was the brother of the French consul in the Chinese Empire, Armand Hauchecorne. Around the turn of the century he was a professor at Peking University. He is also mentioned in the literature as manager of the consulate in Chongqing, as an interpreter in Peking (1911) or as a ‘diplomat’ in France (1940), who had spent a large part of his working life in China.Hauchecome made numerous sculptures with Chinese motifs in terracotta and bronze, some with a humorous undertone. He exhibited his work at the Exposition nationale coloniale de Marseille in 1922 and at several salons of the Société nationale des beaux-arts in the 1920s. Hauchecome was also a member of the artist group La Stèle, founded in the 1920s by the Éditeur d'art (art publisher) and sculptor Arthur Goldscheider, whose works Goldscheider exhibited at the Parisian Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modernes in 1925.Worldwide registered and insured shipping.
