Seven more or less perfect condition Chinese snuff, or powder tobacco flasks.

These flasks or bottles were used primarely between the 17th and 20th century to store snuff, finely grinded tobacco used for consumption through the nose, allowing nicotine to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

Six of the snuff bottles were made out of glass, four of which have been finely carved into an animal. The other 2 have been reverse painted or painted from the inside out. The way this worked was via carefully applying paint using a 90 degree bent brush which was being handeled off from and through the narrow neck of the flasks. Lastly there is a lightweight red flask which shows a scenic landscape on the front and backside, as well as some flower decoration on the left and right side.

All bottles are equiped with a stopper or a cap, some of which have a little spoon attached to them. NOTE that I was not able to twist off the white cap from the bigger bottle.

• The fish weighs a total of 0,065 kg and has a width of 4,5 cm, a height of 5,5 cm and a depth of 4,5 cm.
• The turtle weighs a total of 0,05 kg, has a width of 4 cm, a height of 3,3 cm and a depth of 6,5 cm.
• The bird has a weight of 0,062 kg, a width of 3 cm, a height of 3 cm and a depth of 11 cm.
• The horse has a weight of 0,086 kg, a width of 5,3 cm, a height of 8 cm and a depth of 3,5 cm.
• The flask, painted with the scene of the men in the woods weighs a total of 0,13 kg, has a width of 3 cm, a height of 9 cm and a depth of 3 cm.
• The flask, painted with the blossom tree weighs about 0,05 kg, has a width of 4 cm, a height of 8,3 cm and a depth of 2,3 cm.
• Finally, the small red flask, weighs a total of 0,037 kg, measures a width of 4 cm, a height of 6 cm and has a depth of 2 cm.
