Title: A Calendar of Saints for Unbelievers
Author: Glenway Wescott (drawings 'Signs of the Zodiac': Pavel Tchelitchew)
Publisher: Harrison of Paris, Minton, Balch and Company, New York
Date: 1932
Hardback in slipcase
Size: 15x23,5 cm
Page count: 239
Condition:
-the slipcase is in fairly good condition: the top has split; otherwise with little signs of wear considering its age
-the book: in excellent condition, with very little signs of wear considering its age, but one has to note that it is a typical high-end book of the time: the pages were not yet cut by the publisher, this was left to the owners. Not all sections have been opened (partially 'uncut', 'unopened' or 'intonso'), so you can still sort of feel like the first owner of the book. Some sections have been opened, though, resulting in 'untrimmed' or 'deckle' edges; this may give the impression of a lesser quality if you are not used to this, but it is actually a sign of great individuality and quality.
As mentioned, this was (and is still) a highly collectible, gay interest book, to which a gilded/gilt edge on top also attributes. The book is part of a limited edition of 695 on so-called 'Pannekoek paper'. This is number 162, and carries a signature of the author.
